Mass Effect 2

Postby [FnG] ParanoiDinHELL on Mon Feb 01, 2010 3:03 pm

Since there's no thread here yet about it, I figured id start us of on this new gem of bioware.

Got it thursday and recently replayed part of ME1 to rake up some memories.
Anyway, importing the safe is awesome, lots of flashbacks with characters you meet from the first part. Also, visitting the normandy crash site was a magical gaming moment for me :D

Anyway, who else is into ME2 atm enjoying the exploration of galaxy and seeing the consequences of ME1 pop back and hit you in the face (or reward you for being the vanguard you are)?

Well, I did a quick playthrough of ME1, but didn't do many of the sidequests and mostly went from A->B, but it was also my first play. It was to actually import a Shepard into ME2, because the default character made some odd choices.

Unfortunately, I cannot give out the answers of the default decisions, because that'd be spoilerific for Mass Effect 1. Overall, my psychological profile was considered to be a paragon, even when my bar of paragon and renegade were maxed. Also, I didn't even get the romance in the first game, unless it counts them coming to your room at the end.

Anyways, I played as a soldier. Next play of Mass Effect 1 I'll be an adept who takes assault rifles as a skill, since pistols are weak and I don't want to take 15 points to get a skill to 12. Rather have those 3 extra points to improve my biotics...

But enough talk. ME2 is awesome, and I finally finished the first game even after my problems before where I got stuck because my weapons were not powerful enough, and my tactics were bad.

So far it seems that all the sidequests come back too, be it through a conversation and meeting a character, or by getting a mail (scanning the keepers got me mail for instance, so far at least, who knows what more will be there).

Anyway, got my whole crew ready and loyal to work towards the final mission here bit by bit and i'm absolutely loveing the trip. I'm a vanguard just like ME1 so i'm charging my way from mob to mob :D

I'm very much enjoying it myself, the importing is great too, really gives you a feel that you are continuing from the first game and that it "mattered" in the universe. Though sometimes those decisions could evolve in a way you didn't like, making you regret choices. I could be making it sound worse then it is :P but i liked it made me think about my choices.
I do miss the gear costumisation from mass effect 1. You could many more upgrading items. Now its very restricted compared to before t hough its nicely done propper and i guess its not so confusing now to new peeps. Also woudl have loved a few more levels. When i was playing through the game again with my char i was wondering why he didn't level anymore only to realize i had max level already  . I like how they handled the skills, only 4 levels of them but a choice at end to their maximum skill effect. Sometimes its hard chosing :s
